Free UK ILR Eligibility Calculator
UK ILR Eligibility Calculator for Skilled Worker Visa Holders
Settle Easy UK is a free ILR eligibility calculator that helps UK visa holders and their families know their exact ILR date. It supports Skilled Worker, Global Talent, Innovator Founder, long residence, and dependant routes.
What is an ILR eligibility calculator?
An ILR eligibility calculator works out the exact date you can apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) in the UK. It uses your visa start dates, end dates, and absence history to check whether you meet the 5-year continuous residence requirement for the Skilled Worker route or the 10-year long residence route.
How to calculate your ILR eligibility date
- Add your visa history. The calculator finds your qualifying start date and checks for gaps longer than 28 days that would reset the clock.
- Log your trips abroad. The tool checks every rolling 12-month window to make sure you have not exceeded 180 days outside the UK.
- Check salary, English level, and Life in the UK test status against the ILR requirements.
- See your ILR date, 28-day early application window, and full citizenship timeline in one view.
ILR eligibility: key rules
- 5-year route: 5 continuous years on a qualifying visa (Skilled Worker, Global Talent, etc.). No single gap over 28 days. Max 180 days absent in any rolling 12-month period.
- 10-year route: 10 years of continuous lawful residence. Student and some other visas count. Same 180-day absence rule applies.
- Earned Settlement (proposed): A faster route for high earners, not yet law. Settle Easy UK tracks the proposed rules and will update the calculator when confirmed.
- Family members: Partners and children on dependant visas have their own ILR eligibility dates. Settle Easy UK tracks them all together.
Frequently asked questions
How do I know when I am eligible for ILR?
You are eligible for ILR after 5 continuous years on a qualifying visa such as Skilled Worker, with no more than 180 days absent in any 12-month period and having met the salary, English, and Life in the UK test requirements. Use our free ILR eligibility calculator to find your exact date.
Can I apply for ILR 28 days early?
Yes. The Home Office allows you to submit your ILR application up to 28 days before your qualifying date without affecting your eligibility date.
How does the 180-day absence rule work for ILR?
You must not spend more than 180 days outside the UK in any rolling 12-month period during your qualifying years. The window is rolling, not fixed to the calendar year. Settle Easy UK calculates this automatically from your trip log.
Does time on a Student visa count towards ILR?
Student visa time does not count towards the 5-year Skilled Worker ILR route, but it may count towards the 10-year long residence route.
What happens if I switch from ICT to Skilled Worker visa?
ICT visa time does not count towards the 5-year ILR route. Your qualifying period starts from the date your Skilled Worker visa began. ICT time may count towards the 10-year route.
Can my partner and children apply for ILR at the same time as me?
Your partner and children have their own ILR eligibility dates based on their dependant visa history. Settle Easy UK tracks each family member separately and shows you the full family alignment.
